The Blue Man Group

Griffin still says "Lello" for "yello" and "Candy Can." We're not in a hurry to correct him.

December 4, 2006

Griffin, who is already the sweetest boy in the land and tells me he loves me at regular intervals, tonight after telling me he loves me says, "I'll never forget the love part, Daddy."
Berit and I agree to pay $1 each time we yell at someone.

The inevitable is upon us: Berit got glasses today!

She has actually come to terms with the fact that she needs glasses. Today she and Rowan and Pam went to a play, and she commented to me afterwards that she could see the actors' faces much better when she put her glasses on.

Plus, they are some fairly stylin' spectacles :)

Rowan and I went up skiing today for about 3 hours. It was excellent. Rowan was right where she left off last year with just starting to control her turns and stops, which is perfect. She enjoyed it the whole time, I enjoyed it the whole time, and we just had a wonderful Daddy and daughter ski day. I told her I thought she would be skiing blues with Berit this season.

November 21, 2006

Pam cooked up a quiche the other night for the kids. Berit loves quiche, and Rowan pretty much won't eat anything she's unfamiliar with.

Griffin, on the other hand, saw something that looked like pie and dug right in before exclaiming, "Yechhh!! This is the worst pie I've ever tasted!"

November 5, 2006

I turned Griffin on to Google Earth the other day, and his response at every turn was "How Awesome Is This, Daddy!!" (he mimics me)

November 2, 2006

I was sitting here at the computer while out of the corner of my eye, I saw Berit heading stealthily to the stairs with a plastic shopping bag, much like the kind her halloween candy is in. I thought I should investigate, so I went over.

"Wait up a second, Berit..."

Berit casually tosses the candy onto the stairs behind her and gives me the "OH... Daddy, is it ok if I get a drink of water?" deflection (Look over here! Look over here! There is no one behind that curtain!!!)

She reminds me so much of me it's scary.

October 6, 2006

Berit and I hiked up Royal Arch trail to the first top, where we climbed up onto some high rocks overlooking the city. I ended up sitting closer to the edge than made Berit comfortable, and I didn't understand that at first - until she began crying.

I felt bad for freaking her out. Berit is very sensitive... she's very much like me that way.

September 29, 2006

Berit has taken to writing on herself in ballpoint pen - mostly decorative wrist and ankleband tatoos. This morning, she had a note on her forearm though:

"Recess idea on leg."

So then you read her leg and it says, "Do Penny Drops."

(Penny Drop is a gymnastic move she recently learned in which she swings by her leg on the bar and then flips forwards off of the bar to her feet on the ground.)
When Pam comes in to kiss Griffin goodnight, he tells her, "I love you more than pirates love their treasure." And then a little later, while I'm lying in bed reading next to him, he turns to me, smiles, and says, "I'm glad Mommy stopped by."

February 1, 2006

Griffin: "On Ground Talk Day, the squirrel comes out of his hole and sees his shadow. Then he goes back down."

January 30, 2006

Griffin and I are upstairs playing with the trains, and he turns to me, smiles, and says, "I like having a daddy."

January 4, 2006

Rowan lost her first tooth yesterday. The tooth fairy gave her $5 and fairy dust. She seemed as excited about the fairy dust as the money.

January 2, 2006

Today Berit and I went skiing at Eldora. Now she takes the small jumps, and she did great up on that steep blue also - Powderhorn - my little shredder.
